Voldemort is sure he’s a better wizard than even Dumbledore. There’s no need for remorse. Voldemort had broken up his soul in pursuit of domination, placing the pieces in horcruxes that he was certain would ensure his survival. But once all those horcruxes were destroyed, he was vulnerable to Harry Potter. Like an ancient Greek or Shakespearean villain, Voldemort’s arrogance brings about his own defeat.
Join us as we explore a biography of humility. Perhaps we can recover the positive notion of humility as a virtue for the common good in service of others.
Guest Speaker: Dr. Christopher M. Bellitto is Professor of History at Kean University in New Jersey, where he teaches courses in ancient and medieval history. A specialist in medieval and church history, his latest book is Humility: The Secret History of a Lost Virtue (Georgetown University Press, 2023).
